Science is derived from the latin word ' scientia ' meaning to know. Science deals with a rigorous critical and evidence based approach to any event happening arround us. A simple phenomenon which was not known untill 1930 is scattering of light. The splitting of visible light in to seven colors that can be experimented when allowed to pass through a prism came to be known as "The Raman Effect". Professor C V Raman observed this phenomena when he was on a return voyage from London to Bombay. The idea that persisted till then was that the sea is a clear reflection of the sky and hence blue, as proposed by Rayleigh. Prof Raman could not settle with the idea. He went against the existing norms and published the Raman effect. Science has always asked for space to experiment, observe and analyse the matter around us.
